Seeley Lake Nordic TRAIL PROJECTS
SLNSC has partnered with the USFS since 1992, to provide a premium cross country skiing experience, with members working under USFS direction as volunteers. SLNSC conducts ski trail grooming and trail maintenance/improvements. We strive to successfully implement improvements to the Seeley Creek Nordic Ski Trails beneficial to Seeley Lake and the greater Western region of the state.

Seeley Creek
New Beginner Area
Construction of the new beginner area, located west of the current Seeley Ck trailhead along the Morrell Ck road, began late summer 2025. The new trails were roughed in and a connector trail from the main trail system was established.
Phase II continues in 2026, with grant funding from MT FWP
TSP and Missoula County Parks and Rec.
We still need to raise funding to meet our awarded grants' match requirements for this project!
The SLCF Change Your Pace CHALLENGE is May 1-31, 2026. Your donation grows through the associated CYP Challenge Fund; in 2025, the multiplier was 61 cents on the dollar!

2024
Construction of a new Grooming Storage/Maintenance Building
at the Seeley Creek Trailhead
In 2024, Seeley Lake Nordic Ski Club added a new grooming storage and maintenance building at the USFS Seeley Ck trailhead, located near Seeley Lake, MT. This project was the second step of a multi-phase project (the first being power installation at the trailhead) to update Nordic grooming facilities at the trailhead for the club, whose volunteer members provide Nordic ski trail grooming. XC skiing is free during the winter season at the trail system.
The project was funded primarily by Montana FWP through the award of a Trail Stewardship Program grant.
2023
Power Installation at Seeley Creek Trailhead
In 2023, Seeley Lake Nordic Ski Club brought power to Seeley Creek USFS trailhead. This project was the first step in a two phase project to update Nordic grooming facilities at the trailhead for the club, whose volunteer members provide grooming for Nordic skiers during the winter season.
The project was funded by Montana FWP through the award of a Trail Stewardship Program grant.
2023

Biathlon Range Enhancements
In 2023, Seeley Lake Nordic Ski Club implemented safety and compliance improvements to the Seeley Creek Biathlon Range.
The target berm was excavated to lower it, immediately resulting in a higher and safer backstop berm. The usable width of the range was substantially increased, enhancing the firing line to provide more room for safety officers and provide additional separation between firing points (widened shooting lanes). The excess material was used to add side berms.

The project was funded by Missoula County through the award of a Rural Grant Program micro grant.
